Hi Martin and Oyster,
The Amazon 1 is beginning to sound very nice with the speed issue solved and after a little run-in. Boomy bass is also gone. Thanks for recommending this nice turntable and tonearm :-)

Amazon Turntable Review
Independent 10Audio webzine reviewed the Amazon Referenz Turntable and MORCH DP-8 Anisotropic tonearm. The editor scored this combo a rare perfect 10 (the highest) and you can [Click here] to read.

For those who owned the Amazon 1 turntable, you may upgrade to Amazon Referenz model by just purchasing the upgrade option from us (consists of a very stable, heavier (12kg), composite material platter).

Origin Live Onyx Tonearm

“"sounds more human, more (dare I say it) analogue, and more (gulp) musical....represents excellent value for money and comes highly recommended... offers a relaxing, expansive and musical sound hitherto unavailable at its modest price point" HI-FI WORLD Aug 2011
Hi-Fi World has since awarded Origin Live Onyx - Tonearm of the Year 2011.
Whether this tonearm is planted into your Technics, Rega, Thorens, Acoustic Signature, DPS etc as an upgrade or to a brand new turntable costing $2000-4000, this seemingly understated tonearm performs way above its price range (450 GBP).

Ocellia Ref Cable Review

6moons.com reviewed Ocellia Reference Silver Interconnects, Powercords and Coaxial digital link cable.
Using both the Reference Silver Interconnects and Reference Powercords, author Frederic Beudot wrote “an improvement far greater than upgrading from a $1000 to a $2000 DAC and far greater than any cable has previously made in my system.”
Interestingly, a few Ocellia cable pictures originating from this website have been reproduced with edits by 6moons.com for their article. But our clever readers would surely noticed who is the originator!! :-)

From the same makers of the fame Abbey Road Cables, we are proud to be representing STUDIO CONNECTIONS (UK), range of state-of-the-art cable directly evolved from the cables they developed for EMI Abbey Road when their studios were rebuilt. These have caught the attention of, and are now most favoured by the most respected people in the audio world.
At Modular Audio, we were very impressed by this cable brand, mind you, it is not easy to wow us. There are plenty of hi-end cable brands that are nothing but hype which in fact became a disservice to this hobby. But the way Studio Connections cables elevated the performance of our speakers to another level was simply something we cannot ignore. I know you would soon be too. Studio Connections cables are designed by pro-audio engineers, the people who live and breath pro-audio; the people who wired EMI Abbey Road studio and successfully completed numerous major projects for Churches and Schools in the UK.
We are proud to be their distributor for Singaopre and Malaysia and our initial shipment is arriving soon, so do watch this space.

Turbo Charge Your Analog
Origin Live (UK) has a suite of small to medium, highly effective upgrades whether you are using LP12 or Technics 1200/1210 series turntables etc.
For a start, the flexible, plug-and-play Platter Mat works like a charm. It’s darn economical and effective. You wouldn’t believe how a thin sheet mat (1mm) could upgrade your sound.
Next, replacing the standard turntable feet e.g. Technics, with Origin Live’s Damping Feet and Pads (sold as a set of 4) is another economical upgrade. Like the above, this effective tweak can be done in no time and without fuss.
Thirdly, the Power Supply Upgrades from Origin Live have long been known to make a significant difference. We have plenty of happy user testimonies who did this for their turntables from Audio Note, NAS, Project, Rega etc
Still want more? Upgrade to Origin Live’s latest Tonearms. You will find a suitable tonearm at every budget. For instance, Origin Live’s latest Silver Mk3a is well documented to mate very well to Technics, Rega turntables.

New Origin Live Platter Mat

The verdict is unanimous positive. Whether your turntable platter is made of glass platter, acrylic, aluminum, metal etc or whether your current mat is made of paper, felt, cork, carbon fiber, graphite... or no mat at all - your turntable deserves this one better mat.
Experimentation with different mats are simple and quick. The sound differences are usually obvious, even if your deck does not have a mat.
We have plenty of happy users telling us the Origin Live "upgrade" mat makes a greater difference than most mats (and expensive ones) but more importantly it is a positive difference to every aspect of the music.
Hurry, our new shipment going fast !!.

Exceptional Value Award
Tone Audio web magazine issue #33 has awarded the all-in-one, one-for-all entry-level Clearaudio Concept Turntable - Exceptional Value Award 2010.
Also: 2010 winner of What’s Hi-Fi magazine’s Product of the Year! & TAS Turntable of the Year 2010
The Clearaudio Concept turntable package (made in Germany) is truly plug-and play. This package includes the innovative Verify Tonearm which uses a friction free magnetic bearing technology. What’s more, the Concept MM cartridge comes expertly installed by factory. So all you need now is to plug into your system with MM phono support, level the turntable and spin your LPs!
"Clearaudio's new Concept turntable and cartridge combo offers a hugely rewarding analog experience at a very attractive price... I will tell you that it is good enough in all the ways that count - resolution, dynamics, low-noise, and that hard-to-pin-down thing I'll call musical involvement... Couple that with its terrific German build and finish, and the Concept strikes me as a hands-down bargain." - Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound, October 2010, Issue 206

The dual mono designed PS.30RDT is on demo in our showroom. This is the Winner in STEREOTIMES 2009 Most Wanted Component (Analog Section).
“The Whest PS.30RDT is an extraordinary phono preamplifier by any yardstick. It is a grainless, noiseless piece of gear that provides all the dynamic shadings, vivid imagery, and fine detailing that allows reproduced music to sound real. It would be nice if my lower-priced Nova Phonomena could render dynamic contrasts and inner detail as ably as the Whest, but unfortunately such adroit performance is not available from any lower-priced units I have tried.” Frank Alles - Stereotimes

How to Use Mint?
We highly recommend vinyl-philes who have a wet record cleaning machine to use Mint LP solution. Mint has been our constant companion doing its job reliably for nearly 10 years now - whether its a few dollars record or for a lp found in the rare section of the Record Collector.
But we still get the basic question - how to use it?
Well, Mint website has some simple, clear instructions for you to follow which you can click here to read. For those who just want a quick run-down...
In Brief: 1) Apply Mint solution on the LP surface using the recommended Mint Brush or a soft wool brush
2) Do not scrub. Scrubbing the LP could cause permanent damage to your LP grooves especially so when there is insufficient LP solution applied
3) Let Mint do its work on the dirty record for 30 seconds or so
4) Vacuum dry. That’s all to it and you can do the same on the other side.
Do you need to repeat the above steps with distilled water? It’s up to you really. Mint is non-alcoholic, non-corrosive and cause no harm to your precious LP even if you leave it to dry on the LP. Using pure distilled water for another run would improve the result (naturally because you’re washing it twice?). However, this is not necessary to make Mint work but is nonetheless approved if you want an even deeper clean.
You may visit Mint LP Solution discussions found at Audiogon forum [click here...].

AER Disc Energizer

This CD/DVD/Blu ray tweak was first met with much criticism and skepticism when it was launched. Using theories of Á¿×ÓÁ¦ŒW or “Micro phase alignment”, CD or DVD can be treated by AER Disc Energizer effectively within 5 seconds (through photon emission) simply by pressing a button. Once the disc has the induced energy and being excited by the laser of the player, two things will happen...
Is this yet another silly audio-fool gadget from some NASA abandoned scientists?
As a responsible dealer (cum audiophile), we went into some length to test this product. We met the designer and also did a few private audiophile home visits in HK to find out. The result is conclusive. The positive outcome of treated discs is indisputable. This product won AEx Audio Excellence Award 2009 from Japan.
Drop by our showroom for a quick 5 seconds demonstration. We have brought in limited sets and offering them at a good intro price - so be quick!

Bergmann Sindre

For those who has an early preview of its performance, they all arrived at similar conclusions, comments like “its so quiet”, “absolutely effortless”, “open and highly accurate”, “so rhythmic”. Although this model is still one-step below the reference model but to many of us, this is reference enough. No wonder it has won:
- Editor’s Choice Award 2011: TAS March 2011 magazine
- Turntable of the Year 2010: HiFi+ magazine
- Turntable of the Year 2009: High Fidelity magazine
- Turntable of the Year 2009: Stereo Mojo

Bergmann Sindre Press
Sindre hi-end turntable was very well received in the Hi-End turntable arena since its release last year as shown by the many critics from all over the world. Since, Bergmann has also released it’s first model Magne and by their flagship model Sleipner. Here are some of the extracts from the press:
When sound reproducing equipment can in effect disappear and replace itself with experiences like that—and this was but one of countless instances of the Sindre’s alchemy—well, let’s just say I can neither imagine nor bestow higher praise. Paul Seydor, The Absolute Sound
Before I get to the summary, I need to mention one other aspect of the Bergmann's sound that differentiates it from any other turntable – its presentation of the space. The Sindre's placement of instruments on the stage in space is just perfect. You couldn't wish for more. Wojciech Pacula, High Fidelity
The Sindre cruised through the complex rhythms, instrumentations and chord changes and showed its ability to rock. The many woodwinds and keyboards of Ian Underwood were rich in harmonic texture and his energetic lines were easy to follow as the Danish tracker dug them out. James Darby, Stereomojo

Smart Matrix Pro - New!
Features:
- Improved built and finish
- Quieter
- Smaller footprint
It is a fact cleaned records prolonged your cartridge life, prolonged LP life and very importantly, your playback will sound better with properly cleaned records.
The all new Clearaudio Smart Matrix Pro (Made In Germany) is the best start if you are serious in playing LP. It is well-built, smartly engineered, operates relatively quiet and priced affordably.
But without your LPs cleaned (even new ones), you will enjoy less music, you will hear more noise, at times distortion, your cartridge will have a shorter life. You are better off playing CD.
Knowing all record cleaning machines (rcm) are not created equal, it is important to note that you would still spend 2 to 4 minutes cleaning each LP regardless of the machines you use. But your result would vary if a less than effective rcm is used.
In our opinion, your choice record cleaner should have these key features:
(1) Clockwise and anti-clockwise rotating platter for thorough reach
(2) Avoidance of static electricity or ability to discharge it during cleaning
(3) A powerful vacuum pick-up to completely pick up all the dissolved dirt and dry the LP

whest Special Edition Review

Whest PS.30RDT Special Edition received a highly positive review in the June 2011 issue of Hi-Fi World magazine.
Reviewer Paul Price is a tube-guy and he concludes that “SE offers the insight and low level detailing that only a good transistor design can, yet is more fluid and organic sounding than it has a right to be”. Full advance review can be found in these 2 links: [page 1] and [page 2]

Ocellia PC Reference
Our Ocellia cables customers are most fascinated how could this rather unassuming silver cable - so unsophisticated, so flexible, so unlike any other high-end cables could sound so musical, so immaculately quiet, so everything just right But big, fat and heavy. Of course, to get to such lofty performances, the designer Samuel Furon has bags of experience and secret formulae. What he could disclose is that Ocellia cables are made using:
• Anti-MDI design. • Silver 99.99 % solid-core conductors. • Mineral composition dielectric and outer jacket. • Independent copper braid shield on request. • Furutech plugs.
If you are curious to find out what Ocellia range of silver cables can do for your system, drop by Modular Audio and we’ll loan you one to test it at home - a No Obligation trial.

Clearaudio Syncro

Designed to improve performance of any turntable using a synchronous motor (AC motor). By actually re-generating a perfect mains waveform the Clearaudio Syncro provides absolute stability to the turntable motor resulting in a more detailed, more dynamic and precise structure of the musical performance.
Benefits for using one: - Switching speed is just one button away - no more turntable belt fiddling - Greater speed accuracy and speed stability means getting the pitch spot-on and precise start-stop of musical notes.
This is an affordable and effective upgrade to turntable users of Nottingham Analogue, VPI, Basis, Project and many others.

Can’t Get No Satisfaction?
- Your new turntable still sound inferior to your CDP?
- Suffering from Inner Groove Distortion(IGD)?
- Wonder why the violin shrill and shouty singing?
- Can’t play demanding tracks?
Most likely your turntable system is not setup accurately and not optimized.
At Modular Audio we do not sell you boxes and an instruction manual for you to take home. We first set the system up, deliver to your home and re-calibrate, finetune your turntable again.
No Compromise, No Short-cuts - just perfectly and accurately aligned setup meeting your full expectation of great vinyl playback. That is Modular Audio’s Service to you. That is the service you should expect after spending your hard-earned money.
If it doesn’t sound good, we don’t look good.

HiFi+ Review
HiFi+ magazine (UK) issue #73 reviewed Origin Live’s Resolution Mk2 turntable and Illustrious Mk3C tonearm.
Author Alan Sircom concluding paragraph read “In truth, the Origin Live wowed me more than I expected it to. I anticipated hearing something good but a bit Heath Robinson (in part because of Mark Baker’s Rega-rodding service) and what I heard was one of the best British decks around. Don’t let your vinyl miss out on this gem.”

Unlearning Rules of Hi-Fi
The built, look and classy finishing of the Ocellia Quaero Signature 300B based 7-Watt stereo amplifier is nothing short of spectacular.
Spotting 4 white steel boxes over-sized transformers/choke/power supply that are coiled by Ocellia themselves (reason: 3rd parties couldn’t meet its stringent requirement), this 50kg amplifier (amongst many other key features), speaks volume on its superlative performance in Modular Audio’s showroom.
The Ocellia range of electronics will change your perspective of hi-end hi-fi like it did ours. In terms needing power hungry system to play high power music and in terms of “limitations” of full range speakers due to the flea wattage amps.
So wait no more and do yourself some justice in unlearn and relearning the rules of hi-fi. Come to our showroom today to audition the Ocellia based system.
