Anime’s hi-fi setup is placed along the long wall of his living room. Placing such “heavy machinery” in the living room requires two things - an understanding wife and an understanding wife who also loves music. Anime’s neat system comprises of a pair of Harbeth speaker, LFD integrated amp, Xindak CDP and the new Origin Live turntable.
Anime has 2 glass display cabinets full of Anime figures adding some nice colours and character to the living room. Nice and neat!
Anime’s old Rotel turntable has done its course which has become noisy and unstable. The owner was lucky to receive a batch of hand-me-down vinyl which got him to become more serious in LP playback The phono amplification duties is now taken care by the in-built MM phono stage of the amplifier.
Anime picked the Origin Live Silver arm which in our opinion is a big leap from the standard OL1 arm which is already a formidable performer. The Silver arm is 3g heavier than the OL1 arm with higher strength arm tube; bearing located in yoke and not arm; improved horizontal bearings and high quality RCA connectors. The fine machining and workmanship is a joy to look at.
OL Silver tonearm is mounted with the Sumiko Pearl (top MM model of Sumiko cartridge range). Even in the early hours of run-in, the analog playback already surpassed his old setup by a very wide margin in every aspect. Anime would still find the first 100+ hours of run-in enjoyable even in anticipation for the full glory to prevail.
