Blue Starfish gave us a tough assignment to start - “Get me a Vector 4 arm mount for my SME 30 and then we talk”. Armed with our turntable setup experience and industrial precision machining knowledge, we took up this challenge. Some three weeks later, Blue Starfish became probably the world’s first owner of SME 30 with Basis Vector 4 tonearm. That was quite a breakthrough for us and perhaps another 1st for Singapore?
We are indeed proud of the finished product (arm board) - the look, fit and finish, the no compromise accuracy in getting all the parameters of analogue to sound exactly right. As you can see here, the very crucial phono cable isolation system design principal of Basis Audio has also been applied here although not without modification to fit the SME 30 subchasis design.
Dynavector XX-2 cartridge in brand new company of Vector 4
The Vector 4 tonearm working very comfortably and in unison with one of the top turntables in the world. The Vector 4 tonearm comes standard with its very own PSTT phono cable and it brings Blue Starfish level of enjoyment to yet another level. Airyness, inner detail, timing, pace are just some of the qualities this tonearm brings to the table in the first 10 hours or so. We are confident this list will grow as it begins to run-in.
A top notch turntable with an equally competent and handsome partnering tonearm.
The SME 30 is sitting on the mana reference platform and is just one-half of his system. The other components include Audio Research Reference 3, Goldmund SR power amp, ASR phono stage, Living Voice speakers, Purist Audio Design (PAD) and Acrolink cables.
These are just some of Blue Starfish’s star LP and some dating back to his college days in the UK. Like his hardware, Blue Starfish is just as selective in software.
