LP is Detox’s greenfield. He has never played an LP before. But this virgin attempt, is certainly no beginner’s analog front-end. He set his objective clearly and that is to get into a level where he could just enjoy his music (also give his CDP a good fight) and not keep toying with the upgrade path. Note: Our photographs (via iPhone 4) did no justice to Detox’s beautiful home system.
Detox’s hi-fi cum HT system in his living room. Jeff Rowland pre, power, Wadia CDP, Dynaudio centre-speaker/sub, Wilson Audio Sophia 2, Clearaudio turntable, Whest phono stage. Super delicious!
Clearaudio Avantgarde Magnum. From the look and its up-sized motor, this is mid-end at the very least. Note that the carbon-mat is an optional item but it sure looks great with it.
Clearaudio Symphony V2 MC cartridge doubled-sealed for freshness.
Avantgarde turntable is fitted with Clearaudio’s Satisfy (aluminium) tonearm.
The 8kg chasis, 70mm platter with two 20mm acrylic chassis plates and a sandwiched aluminium plated supported by three heavy aluminium round footers sure spell noise free stability. The Clearaudio house sound is always gripping, accurate, very quiet, full-size image in HD resolution. Even without run-in, Detox admitted the analog sound is very inviting and bested his pricier CDP in many ways.
Whest PS.30RDT Special Edition (red) phonostage connected to Jeff Rowland pre via Cardas XLR interconnects. Users of Whest would notice, Whest sounds best without switching off. .
Detox or intox? Digital detox and analog intox? Detox wouldn’t care which is which. He now knows analog sound is addictive, seductive and interactive. It’s still the King of reproduced sound served best when you are seated.
