Here is another good audiophile, music-lover who lives in the East side of Singapore, Sports is an old friend of the webmaster and I still recalled he was still an Uni kid who was bitten by the audio bug when I first knew him. Years flew by and now comfortably settled and surrounded by true L-O-V-E - his music system, toy sports cars, home theatre system and of course, a lovely wife.
Sports is one discrete audiophile (who isn’t in this hard times?). His carefully assembled system took some years to evolved. Currently consisting of Thiel speakers, Bel Canto integrated amplifier, DACT 2-box phono, CEC digital player (sent for calibration at the time of our visit) and the new addition - Clearaudio Performance turntable.
It took Sports no less than 4 deep listening, re-listening and more listening (with his better half) to commit to the Performance turntable. First and foremost, it has to beat his current Loth-X turntable; compatible to his music preference and works with his phono stage. We hooked up his old Lyra Clavis D.C. cartridge as Sports is considering to upgrade to the Clearaudio Stradivari cartridge in the near future. Sports has experienced the magic of ClearaudioStradivari cartridge in our showroom and in our opinion would ramp up performance to high-end sound.
Equipment rack is from Solidsteel and the top turntable mdf support was replaced by granite.
On the right of his music system is Sport’s all purpose, pride-and-joy display cum music software cabinet. On the top 2 shelves are his model cars (heaps of them - many still in-box and waiting to be ”played”), some CDs classified into pop, rock, techno, classical and his soon growing LP collection of Metal, Pop/rock, Classical and even some Chinese pop. LP cleaning duties are done via Hannl rcm and the trusty Mint LP Solution (bottle seen in the lower right of the picture)
Original LP issue of Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Metallica, AC/DC (rare Australia press), G’N’R... Sports wouldn’t look back a bit for paying premium in his overseas business trip given the street price of them now.
Last but not least, an awesome, full featured, 6.1 home theatre system in a dedicated golden ratio dedicated movie-only room. Honestly, we turned green after seeing this.
